work in progress session

We had a work in progress session this week with Jonny and Ceri to see where we are in our project and to give us some ideas. They told me that instead of just producing work that could be used on shop shutters that I should think about making posters and maybe some t-shirt designs and try and produce some work that will help make people want to go to Margate. I was a bit unsure about this but after the session I gave it some thought and I think it would be a good idea and is a defiantly something I want to do as one day I would love to produce t-shirt designs. They also told me to visit a seaside town which is still doing well nowadays like Brighton or Bournemouth which i am looking forward to do.

pointless poster exhibition

Were currently having an exhibition in soul cellar called pointless posters, where we were asked to produce a poster about any thing, as it didn’t have to have a meaning or a purpose. So for my poster I wanted it to relate to my project but at the same time could be read as a pointless poster. The reason I chose to make it relate to my current work is that I had the choice to reuse the image in my work if I wanted to.

Laura Carlin talk

We had a guest lecturer come in today called Laura Carlin who was taught by one of our tutors called Charles Shearer when she was at university. She produces a lot of reportage based work as well as work of animals. She also produces work on ceramics and ornaments. She has produced images for the book ‘Ironman’, by Ted Hughes. I found her work quite inspiring due to hoe she produced her work and decided to put it onto plates etc.
